One of 450 copies, unnumbered, folio size, 159 pp. After moving from Cannes, France, to Northern California, historian and researcher Claudine Chalmers was captured by the history and landscape of the Golden State; this publication by The Book Club of California examines the settlement of the state and the people and scenery that make up California from an unusual perspective: that of French artists who travelled and lived in the state.
The book is filled with reproductions of paintings from numerous French artists; it was designed by The Yolla Bolly Press, publishers of fine press editions of modern literature in Covelo, California.

Housed in a slipcase covered in light grey paper.
___CONDITION: A fine copy; the covers clean, the corners straight and unrubbed, the binding tight with solid hinges, the interior is clean and bright, and entirely free of prior owner markings; crisp, clean, as new. The slipcase also fine, strong and sturdy, clean, without wear.
