1930
1930. Near Fine. N.d., circa 1930s, based on the paper among other things, but could certainly be a little later or earlier. Each of the paintings comes in a folded sheet measuring 26 by 19 cm, and the leaf is mounted onto a black sheet which itself is mounted onto the right side of the inside folded sheet. The leaves are not of a standard size. The painted portion of our examples are top to bottom in the 10 to 12 cm range. Three of the five depict young and attractive lovers, one, a musician, and one, a woman applying herself to some craft. All the paintings have a naive quality, with neon colors. The artwork emulates traditional Indian painting, and obviously, these paintings were done for the souvenir market. Light wear and age toning to the exterior paper. All the leaves have tissue guards, which as tissue guards are wont to do, have some creases, etc.
