St. Louis: Buxton & Skinner, 1893. 23 pages of documents on 12 pages intended to form a fictional account of events along with a fictional society romance in St. Louis between Robert Sumner Howe, Dorothy Carr, and Arthur Ormsby Farnsworth leading to the Carr-Farnsworth marriage. Henry Blossom who was a society editor in St. Louis knew the inside dope on movers and shakes in St. Louis society and composed this fascinating work which allows the reader to construct the story through the correspondence between the parties. (Theodore Dreiser said he was merely a "society boy" who knew how to satisfy the whims of the rich and famous). Henry Blossom (truncated) who conceived this item was the best librettist for Victor Herbert and was well known for his ability to capture language as it was spoken in high society. A near fine copy bound in pictorial paper wraps, some finger soiling, inscribed by the author "Wishing you a Merry Christmas, yours very sincerely, H.M. Blossom, Jr. (Inventory #: 018740)
