In the 16th century, a Benedictine monk, Dom Bernardo Vincelli of the abby Fécamp, researched and experimented with herbaceous compounds and mixtures - producing a liquor from the aromatic herbs in the fields near his abby. In the mid 1800's, Alexandre Le Grand rediscovered the recipe from manuscripts the monks left behind. Le Grand brought to life the hidden secrets of Dom Vincelli and produced the liquor we now know to be Benedictine. Text in English and French. Wood cut illustrations (truncated)
