Elizabeth David's oval bookplate at verso of front cover. Along with his two sons, Alphonse Biardot, a French immigrant, founded Franco-American Company in 1886. The company featured foods from his native country alongside specialty items such as canned soups, entrees, puddings, and pasta. This large, colorful chromolithographed pamphlet helped introduce the general American public to items such as Mulligatawny Soup, Chicken Gumbo, Green Turtle Soup, Pâtes, and Ready-made French Entrées. This particular copy is stamped with the "LONDON OFFICE" address on the title page. Disbound but complete and clean.
