Universal City: Universal Pictures, 1941. Seven vintage publicity photographs of actress Helen Parrish, dated variously between 1940 and 1941. Six with the stamps of studio photographer Ray Jones on the versos, and three with printed mimeo snipes affixed to the same.
Born in Columbus, Georgia, actress Helen Parrish began her acting career as a child, with her first film credit at the age of four, playing the daughter of Babe Ruth in the 1927 silent film "Babe Comes Home." In early adulthood, she appeared in several romantic comedies and film musicals, and was frequently teamed with actress Deanna Durbin, most notably in "Three Smart Girls Grow Up" (1939).
From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where we worked well into the 1950s.
