Universal City: Universal Pictures, 1944. Collection of six vintage publicity photographs of actress Martha O'Driscoll, including one INSCRIBED by O'Driscoll ("To Warren / Sincerely / Martha O'Driscoll"), dated variously between 1943 and 1944. Three with mimeo snipes on the versos.
O'Driscoll appeared in films from 1937 to 1947, ultimately retiring after her marriage to millionaire Arthur I. Appleton. She is best remembered today for her performances in Cecil B. DeMille's "Reap the Wild Wind" (1942) and in the cult classic "House of Dracula" (1945).
From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where we worked well into the 1950s.
