With some first issue points -- publisher's name on verso of title and base of spine, and a few partially blank pages in gatherings A to H with page numbers, but not all -- thus a mixed state in terms of first and early issue. 8vo. 21 by 15 cm. viii, 516, [1] pp. Map of Wessex on last unpaginated page with content. Slight bumping of upper front board. Leaves age toned or slightly browned. Cloth of binding has very minor, inconspicuous small stains, and gilt bright. Light shadow marking on front endpapers from slip of paper that must have once been there. Otherwise, the leaves are clean. Gilt on upper edge still reasonably bright, but there are a few stray ink lines, all short, and a faint film of dusty soiling. (Inventory #: 007937)
