Yuma AZ: Sun Graphics. Fine. 1989. First Edition. Stapled wraps. [as-new, unblemished copy]. (B&W photographs, maps, ads) A brief history and lots of anecdotal lore about Niland, a small town -- technically a "census-designated place" -- a couple of miles southeast of the Salton Sea (the Valley referred to in the title is California's Imperial Valley), which was founded in 1914 by a couple of developers on 160 acres purchased from the U.S. Government and promoted with great fanfare (a special train brought prospective buyers out from Los Angeles). Current population is estimated at about 500. . (Inventory #: 29043)
