London: The London Express Newspaper Limited. Very Good in Very Good- dj. 1953. First Edition. Hardcover. [bumping to lower corners, contemporary gift inscription on verso of front endpaper, small nick in top edge of rear cover; the jacket is moderately edgeworn and a bit soiled, small tears and small bits of paper loss at several corners (worst is a half-inch missing from the top of the spine), 2-inch closed tear at bottom right of front panel]. (B&W and color photographs, prints) "The story and the intimate details of each Queen's Coronation, her feelings and her reactions, are vividly portrayed in this book, [which was published] on the occasion of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on June 2nd, 1953." Roughly the first half of the book is the historical look at previous English Queens' Coronations, with the second half devoted to the then-current "Great Day": background on the Royal Family, preparations for the day-of, and numerous photos of the event itself and surrounding festivities. Although one tends to think of QEII Coronation memorabilia as fairly common -- there were, after all, SO many celebratory publications issued in connection with her ascent to the throne, and everybody saved them, right? -- for whatever reason this particular one seems to be somewhat scarce. .
