Frontis portrait of Fortiguerra, then xliv, 549, [1], 330, [1] pp. Once a truly beautiful full calf armorial binding, with unusual spotted markings a distinctive feature, but now the leather of the spine is darkened, dessicated, rubbed, with joints rubbed, and starting in the front especially, both volumes. The first volume has a leather repair -- an infill -- of modern calf about two to three cm at top. Internally, though, flawless, with the text blocks very solid, the leaves clean, and remarkably so. And notwithstanding the issues with the bindings, we think most would still want to preserve them. (Inventory #: 19980)
