Very near fine in 3/4 leather covered boards with five raised bands on the spine with gilt text in two of the compartments specially bound by the publisher. The top edge of the text block is gilt. A small quarto of 9 3/8 by 6 1/8 inches with touches of rubbing to the leather over the raised bands and to the tips of the boards. The contents are fine with no evidence of foxing or tanning. 529 pages including an index, bibliography, addenda and text. Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of Talleyrand from an engraving of a portrait "supposed to be by Prud'hon" 3 facsimiles and 37 plates (3 in color) the color plates are protected with tissue guards.
