by Savage, Charles Roscoe [Utah] [Photograph]
Photograph. Very Good. Photograph [6 x 8"] on a tan mount [7 1/4 x 9 1/4"] Glassine tissue guard mounted to the photo on the reverse. A photo by pioneer Mormon photographer Charles Roscoe Savage of the oldest known house in Salt Lake City, one of only two existing pioneer homes built in 1847. The pioneers arrived in Salt Lake Valley in 1847, and they immediately began building simple habitations. This cabin was home to William Henry Deuele. It originally stood on what is known today as 200 North and West Temple. The cabin was later moved, preserved, and furnished with authentic artifacts, and is now located outside the Church History Museum west of Temple Square. (Inventory #: 64433)
