APO 96225: Tropic Lightning Association. Very Good+. [1970]. First Edition. Hardcover. (no dust jacket, probably as issued) [modest external wear, some rubbing to gilt lettering on front cover, slight dog-earing to leading edge of two glassine map overlays in the middle of the volume]. (B&W & color photographs, maps) A detailed and heavily-illustrated account of the operations of this storied U.S. Army Division (nicknamed "Tropic Lightning") during just over a year in the Vietnam War. Included is a certain amount of history of the Division, which was first activated in Hawaii about two months before the attack on Pearl Harbor. An "Awards" section at the rear of the volume presents alphabetized lists of the Division's winners of the Distinguished Service Cross, the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Medal of Honor -- followed by an alphabetical list of all those killed in the conflict. There are also one-page biographies of the Commanding General, Major General Harris W. Hollis, and the Former Division Commander, Major General Ellis W. Williamson. The final page is a tribute to the Division's combat journalists. (NOTE that the scanned image accompanying this listing appears to be slightly askew along the right edge, but this is just an anomaly introduced by our scanner; the book itself is perfectly rectangular.) ****NOTE that additional postage charges will be assessed for international shipping of this heavy volume; if this concerns you, please contact us for a shipping quote before placing your order.
