Chicago: The American Cereal Co, 1893. Booklet, stapled in wrappers (16.5 x 11.5 cm.), 68 pages. FIRST EDITION. A little product cookbook, advertising the various cereal products offered by the American Cereal Company, maker of Quaker Oats. This first edition was issued in advance of the Columbian Exposition of 1893, and contains a "World's Fair Souvenir Coupon", good for a set of twelve trade cards depicting the company's installation at the fair, "The Procession of the Seasons". In addition to the famous Quaker Oats product, American Cereal Co., produced other products from oats, wheat, corn, barley, rye, and buckwheat. Chromolithographic printed wrappers depict a flag-draped Lady Liberty standing behind two globes (to see most of the continents), with stalks of wheat in each hand. Corner of one leaf torn, not effecting text, and one leaf dog-eared. Otherwise near fine. Scarce. [OCLC locates three copies]. (Inventory #: 9766)
