Inscribed by Bakst to Florence Perkins, described in correspondence with Maurice Maeterlinck as "a mysterious American notable." Rebound in full leather, with raised lettering on the front cover and an onlaid leather title label on the spine. The front joint is starting, and the leather shows mottling and darkening. The original vellum front cover has been preserved. Large folio, featuring a color-printed portrait of Bakst by Modigliani, 68 mounted color plates, with tissue guards bearing printed captions and the publisher's stamp.
