Cincinnati: Crossroads Books, 1984. Limited Edition. Folio. This edition of Ben Shahn (after) pochoir prints of the Dreyfus affair consist of 60 copies on Grande Arches handmade pure rag verge paper issued hors de commerce and numbered I-LV, the present copy is # XXXVIII (38). Ben Shahn undertook to express his own sense of involvement in a series of paintings portraying the leading actors in the Dreyfus drama, paintings which he repeated in these eight pochoir facsimile reproductions. Each plate is within its own paper folder with with wrap around tissue guards and the name of the subject in red and a short bio in black. Text volume (26 pages.) Also included are essays by Bernada Bryson Shahn, Egal Feldman and Charles Westheimer. Bound in light gray paper covered boards lettered in black and red. A fine copy in the original clamshell case lettered in red and black which does have a large stain near upper edge.
