Los Angeles: Glen Dawson, 1960. Limited Edition. Octavo. One of 330 copies printed by The Plantin Press. An important book on one of the younger members of the Sublette family who learned how to hunt, capture and sell furs but only to find that the market which had led the mountain men to the West had become almost extinct. Trying to survive in a dying business, facing financial ruin and ultimately a grizzly bear's fatal attack. A very good copy bound in brown cloth decoratively stamped in gilt, spine lettering gilt, just a touch of fading to binding.
