2003 · New York
by Chase, Marilyn
New York: Random House, 2003. ix, 276p., map, prologue, photos, epilogue, notes, bibliography, index; a softbound in 8x5 inch decorated wraps. A worn copy with a few light foodstains to foredge, an adequate reading copy in which is laid in a NYT Book Review leaf (quite toned but not fragile) that is quite instructive; Chase's conclusions pinpoint two public health errors: the racialization of the plague (the Chinese American community was blamed), and that business + state govt refuse to take steps that would cost, economically.
