Amsterdam: F. Kaal. Lithography by Desguerrois en Co, 1831. Half Calf. Marbled paper on boards. Very Good Minus. Beautiful plate book depicting a wide array of ships and boats then in use. Oblong, 22.5 by 31.5 cm. [8], 60, [4] pp., followed by 50 hand-colored lithographed plates. Artist's blindstamp on all the plates, and his signature written in ink in intro. Condition: foxing affecting perhaps half the leaves. Generally light on text pages, and varying on the plates affected, with it light on some, but moderate to heavy on a few plates. The hand-coloring in this copy is at times on the light side, with a few of the ship illustrations showing no coloring (truncated) to speak of on the ships themselves. Other plates, though, are more fully colored. (Inventory #: 006504)
