New York: Alfred A. Knopf, Publisher, 1927. Magazine. lxxii, 385-512pp., paperbound in the usual 10x7 inch plain printed format with overlapping (yapp) edges. Edges are distressed, with chipping, tail has some tatter and a split, front hinge is holding but rather rough with small losses at gutter from leaf i/ii. A lower-corner dampstain affects every preliminary i-xl)/terminal leaf (xli-to end) but not text leaves sandwiched in (a bindery error?), a reasonably good copy. Of note is a two-page poem, "Go Down Death" by Johnson, pp.394/5, and on 404-409 a one-act play, "Hemp" by Cain, concerning the proposed lynching of an off-stage African American male; (truncated) play transpires in "the sheriff's office in a county jail," white characters.
