First Place Books

First Place Books began operations in 1995 in St. Mary’s County, Maryland. We moved to Frederick County, Maryland in 1997. A proud member of the ABAA, the ILAB, and the IOBA, First Place Books takes great pride in the fine condition of its inventory as well as the broad and surprising variety found therein. The owner, Kevin Kinley, began his professional career in the Theatre world, working at the Folger Theatre then as the Producer of The Maryland Shakespeare Festival. First Place Books has an inventory of approximately 12,000 volumes, concentrating on such subjects as: Fine Bindings, Literary First Editions, Mysteries (both modern and vintage), Nautical and Adventure novels, Byzantine Theology, and volumes produced by the Federal Writers Project.
