A "travel" yarn about the exploration of a salon's mantelpiece, or the objects in a well-appointed room, and the little details missed by most of us as we rush through our domestic lives. This particular copy of this uncommon work epitomizes the exquisite fineness of the genre of almanacs and ladies' gift books produced by Janet, Le Fuel and Macilly during (truncated) the Restoration era in France. There is trivial rubbing along the edges, with miniscule paper loss, but overall, this is about as nice a copy of this work, and also of the type of binding, one is likely to find.
