by Frisbie, Robert Dean
Boston: Little Brown and Company, 1937. First Edition. W. Alister Macdonald. Warmly INSCRIBED by William S. Hart Sr. to his son. Hart was an American silent film actor, screenwriter, director and producer. He is remembered for having "imbued all of his characters with honor and integrity." - Wiki. 8vo. xv, 277 pp. Striking jacket design and twelve full-page illustrations by W. Alister Macdonald. Light foxing to page edges & inside front & rear boards; slight fading to spine & edges else near fine in uncommon very good dustjacket (light wear to extremities; short closed tears to spine ends; light foxing; small residual of yellow label to rear flap corner). A nice association copy...Frisbie and Hart were friends and Frisbie had a bit part in one of Hart's films shortly before he headed for the South Seas. This made Frisbie quite a celebrity with the islanders and most likely gave Hart this copy. Frisbie was an American writer of travel literature about Polynesia during the first half of the 20th century. Here, in his second book, is his account of his first five years living in Tahiti.
