Two tables are of 1786 (the date of the first edition), the frontispiece and 7 plates are from 1796. Blue paper covers with marbled backstrip, ms. title to front cover; (corners rounded, some brittle edges, only marginally spotted, engravings still fresh and bright). The engravings of Francesco Bartolozzi, executed with his characteristic technique of stippling, the drawings are by Cipriani (truncated) (depicting eyes, ears, noses, mouths, hands, feet and faces).
