From jacket: The exhibition From the Fire: Contemporary Korean Ceramics brings the finest of contemporary Korean ceramics in the largest survey of works to come to North America. The exhibition also marks the first time a Korean curator has selected an exhibtion of contemporary ceramics from Korea of this scale for tour in the United States. From the Fire assembles 54 contemporary Korean ceramic artists whose pieces incorporate traditional techniques with innovative methods to create both functional and sculptural works. Teh 108 works in this exhibition, both large- and small-scale, date from the early 1990s through 2003, with many created especially for the exhibtion.
