With 10 additional sepia toned lithograph plates; other figures in the text. xix, [i], 436pp. Tall 8vo, beautifully bound by Riviere & Son in 3/4 forest green morocco; gilt-decorated spine with deer head motif; marbled endpapers. London: John Murray, 1838. First edition. A scarce book. Both joints neatly repaired; 3 plates have faint dampstain in corner, otherwise a very nice clean copy (truncated) with minimal foxing. Spine and extra title are dated 1839 but title states 1838 and this is definitely not the "new" 1839 edition. (Inventory #: 219770)
