Hichens (1864 - 1950) was a lyricist, playwright, journalist, and novelist, best known for his satire on Oscar Wilde ‘The Green Carnation’ and for his novels that were made into films - ‘The Garden of Allah’ with Marlene Dietrich and Charles Boyer and ‘The Paradine Case’ directed by Alfred Hitchcock, starring Gregory Peck, Ann Todd, Charles Laughton, Charles Coburn, Ethel Barrymore, and Louis Jordan. His other works include ‘After the Verdict,’ ‘Secret Information,’ ‘The Sixth of October,’ ‘The God Within Him,’ ‘Snake-Bite and Other Stories,’ etc. (Inventory #: 18234E)
