Bookplate, light edgewear on the boards and the front hinge weakened, but a sound, very good copy. Initially, Gehrig could not play baseball for Columbia because he had played baseball for a summer professional league during his freshman year, not knowing that doing so jeopardized his eligibility to play collegiate sports. Gehrig was, however, ruled eligible to play on the Lions' football team and was a standout fullback and tackle. He later gained baseball eligibility and joined the Lions on that squad as well.
