[Veracruz]: Typographia Veracruzensi, 1819. Very good.. 12pp. Small quarto. Removed from a sammelband, with small stab holes and light adhesive residue at gutter margin. Otherwise, scattered faint foxing. A rare and early Veracruz imprint, comprising a Latin funeral oration by Raymundo Otero for Maria Isabel of Braganza, the short-lived Queen of Spain. Maria Isabel suffered a brutal death at the age of twenty-one when, having had her fetus die in the womb, doctors performed a caesarian to remove it, thinking that she too had died while trying to give birth. She was in fact still alive, and the operation killed her. In life, she was avid art enthusiast, (truncated)
