Personal Scrapbook, "Collection of Pen and Ink Studies

1935. Softcover. g- to vg. Quarto. Unpaginated. 22 leaves. Textured tan paper folder bound with a single brass fastener. "Pen & Ink Studies, Danica Misita, 3/4/35" handwritten on the front cover in pen. A unique personal scrapbook assembled by artist Danica Misita (1914-1983), containing a total of 76 individual clippings pasted onto the leaves, usually 1-3 per page. These clippings are comprised of b/w reproductions after original pen and ink illustrations from magazines, books, comic strips and/or advertisements of the period. Included here are illustrations by such artists as George Herbert Mitchell, William Neu, Sir John Bernard Partridge (1861–1945), (truncated) Gordon Grant (1875-1962), E. W. Kemble (1861-1933), Robert Lynn Lambdin (1886-1981), and most prominently James Montgomery Flagg (1877-1960). A good number of the artists cannot be identified as the images are uncredited, or have had the artist's signature cut off. Wrappers with heavy chipping and some stains along the edges. Most of the images here clean and vibrant. A few are age toned, with occasional offsetting to the paper opposite. Wrappers in good-, interior in very good condition overall. Danica Misita (1914-1983) was an artist known to have lived in California. She was known to have been a sculptor. (Inventory #: 28810)
