First edition. A generally sound square copy with wear and fading to spine panel: frayed top and tail rims with tiny tearings, spine lettering still legible but just barely. Hinges are sound but expect an eyesore on front pastedown, a bookplate crudely removed. The untrimmed textblock is firm, if a bit of tone to the outermost margins. A fair-to-good copy. Opening lines: "I was born a privileged Jew ..in a part of the world in which Jews not only were without (truncated)
