first edition Hardcover

by Edward, David B.
Cincinnati: J. A. James & Co, 1836. First edition. Hardcover. Very good. 12mo. xii, 13-336pp. Folding map by E. F. Lee, hand-colored in outline. Full cotemporary leather, spine with gilt rules, red and black lettering labels, gilt. The leather binding is significantly scuffed, the hinges and rear board foredge with repairs, but still a ver good copy.
The map has two folds reinforced on the reverse because of a separation at the folds, no loss. and the margins have some folds and roughness not affecting the image. Overall a good copy and rare with the map. Streeter calls this one of the essential Texas books, and Jenkins concurs.
