First American Edition of the first of Trollope's six "Palliser" novels, published in September 1865, the month after the final UK serial part (the two UK volumes were published in October 1864 and in June 1865). The illustrator at the beginning of twenty-part serialization was Hablot K. Browne (who decades earlier had illustrated Dickens books as "Phiz"); however, beginning with the eleventh part Browne was replaced (truncated)
