Publisher's original green cloth titled and decorated in white and gilt to spine and front board. 166pp. Light bumping to the spine ends, and some scuffing at the corners, a small, pale stain to the head of the spine, not interfering with the titles. Internally clean, patterned endpapers with some spotting, although the page block itself is almost entirely free of spotting, fore-edge untrimmed. A very good, strong and smart copy.

A collection of supernatural stoies, with some more mundane content in the form of a few criminal escapades, all originating in and around the Northumbria (truncated) region of northern England. The "Deil" in the title is a regional dialect contraction of the word "Devil", as the title story deals with a man who believes himself to have been branded by the Devil, and made part of his unholy flock.
