by Roosevelt, Theodore
New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1910. First Edition. Large Octavo. Frontispiece, 529pp., engraved illustrations with captioned tissue guards along with other photographic images. Roosevelt was most content wandering the grounds of the unknown. While there are several beasts that will kill man, he also mentions those unforeseen creatures that are small and deadly. But, he says, there are no words that can tell the hidden spirit of the wilderness, or can reveal its mystery, its melancholy, and its charm. There is delight in the hardy life of the open, in long rides with rifle in hand, in the thrill of the fight with dangerous game. A very good copy bound (truncated)
