This volume collects three of his treatises on the civil law all of which discuss, at least in part, the vocabulary of the civil law, anticipating his highly regarded Lexicon Iuris Civilis (1st ed. 1548). Oldendorp, a state official and law professor, was a notable Protestant jurist. He published a number of works on legal philosophy, political and social theory and legal history, which were popular due to their practical nature and straightforward language. His Protestant viewpoint also enhanced the value of his work in areas of Europe that embraced the Reformation. All three items are scarce. Of the first work, OCLC locates 5 copies in North America, 3 in law libraries (Library of Congress, Harvard, Columbia). Of the second, OCLC locates 3 copies in North America, all in law libraries (Harvard, Columbia, University of Michigan). Of the third, OCLC locates 2 copies in North America, 1 in a law library (University of Michigan). Baudrier, Bibliographie Lyonnaise 8: (pp.) 202, 212.
