Very Good binding. 4to half leather over marbled boards The Second Edition of this significant travel narrative; “[Park]...made the first great practical advance in the opening-up of Central Africa” [Printing and the Mind of Man, 253]. With an engraved frontispiece portrait of Mungo Park, a folding map showing “The Route of Mr. Park”; 5 plates; a map of North Africa’; a Chart of Variations; and 2 leaves of music “A Negro Song from Mr. Parks’ Travels”. The Dedication Page has an error -- “INSRCIBED” for “INSCRIBED”. There is damp staining, affecting the first map and several plates, and the maps have old and effective reinforcements to the versos. Half leather over marbled boards. The boards show considerable wear with loss to the corners, and the front board has been reattached. Morocco label. (PMM, 253). Very Good binding.
