NP: np, 1943. 10.5 x 15.5 cm. [12] leaves. Faded pale green paper wrappers, stapled, with cover title printed in red. Text on the verso of the front cover prints a statement to the ship's company from Captain R. S. Berkey. Thirteen photo illustrations on rectos (and one on verso), with captions on facing pages. The U.S.S. Santa Fe was a Cleveland-class light cruiser launched in June of 1942. In 1943 she was engaged in the Pacific Theatre seeing action in the Gilbert and Marshall Islands, bombarded Wake Island disabling Japanese coastal artilleries and giving troop cover. It would continue to see action in the Pacific, including the invasion of Iwo Jima. (truncated)
