Highmore, South Dakota: E.J. Quirk Land Company, 1908. Promotional information is printed on the verso of the map. “South Dakota, a wonderful farming country; great agriculture, live stock; great in mineral wealth and natural resources.” This booster piece also claims South Dakota is the least advertised and known, but “all things considered ”the richest and best state in the Union.” Land was offered at $12.50 to $30 per acre, dependent on distance from railroads and improvements.
The map is printed in red and black (Hand, Hyde, Hughes, and Sully Counties are highlighted in pink) on a 22” x 17” sheet, which folds into printed tan paper wraps (3 ¼” x 6”). Tiny bit of edgewear; else near fine. Scarce, OCLC locates only one copy, at Yale. (Inventory #: 78147)
