Worcester, Massachusetts: Achille St. Onge, 1942. First Edition. Octavo. 56 pages, Inscribed on the title page by Carl E. Wahlstrom to his friend Lemuel G. Hodgkins, March 29, 1942. Wahlstrom was a major Lincoln collector who as a probate judge had been approached by William E. Barton, a contemporary Lincoln scholar about the Bixby letter (where it is claimed she lost two, not five sons in the war (one deserted to the Confederates). The frontispiece is from a unique daguerreotype of Lincoln borrowed from the family member of a soldier at Fort Totten (outside Washington). One of St. Onge's fine printed books. Bound in dark blue cloth lettered in gilt, spine lettering gilt, spine is faded. A. very good copy.
