Ephemera laid in. Illustrated with nine lithographic reproductions of Pechstein's pen drawings in text, and a lithographic reproduction of a woodcut on front cover. This fine production of the Pechstein exhibition catalog at the Berlin State Opera in Berlin is reminiscent of the early postwar efforts to revive the German art shunned and destroyed during the Nazi era. The catalog lists 121 of Pechstein's artworks, including paintings, providing a comprehensive view of the versatile oeuvre of this German master. Contains a four-page essay by Adolf Jannasch, curator and responsible for the selection of Pechstein works for this exhibition. Four pieces of ephemera laid in, including a review of the exhibition by Friedrich Schwerdfeger, a Claudia Hoff review of the Pechstein exhibition at the Academy of Visual Arts, Berlin, in 1959, and a printed b/w reproduction of Pechstein's painting "The Cello Player.
