Taylor served in the San Saba River battle against the Comanches, under John Henry Moore, a veteran of the Texas Revolution and one of the "Old Three Hundred" who had received land grants in Stephen Austin's first colony. In January 1839 he organized a cavalry company; Felix Taylor was a member. The Company campaigned against the Comanches, with mixed results, including the wounding of Taylor. (Inventory #: 40711)
