Bound in publisher's slate cloth stamped in blind and gilt. 182pp. Frontispiece with five full page plates. Very Good with slight lean to binding, fading to spine and covers, and slight loss of cloth and fraying at ends. Bumping to corners, rubbing to gilt, and soiling to cloth. Bookseller's price in pen on the front pastedown and contemporary gift inscription and ownership on front free endpaper recto and verso. Slight foxing to preliminaries and toning to contents. Alcott's first book being a compilation of fairy stories initially written when the author (truncated) was 16 for Ellen Emerson, Ralph Waldo Emerson's daughter.
