The letter is addressed to a friend and concerns "hiring a bookkeeper at my expense to make out some kind of a statement as to how the matter stands on the Genealogy." Second letter. 1 page dated November 7, 1872. The letter is addressed to his publisher Munsell (most likely Joel Munsell in Albany). There is a political slant to this letter stating "Wisconsin has returned to its first love. The Republican Party has retired to private life, & I have no tears to shed on the melancholy occasion."
