Very Good. Single page handwritten document. 19 x 16 cm. Now attractively matted and framed under glass. Brown ink. Old vertical and horizontal creases visible. Text: "[Fentres?] Cty Tennessee. Received of W.A. Fishback one thousand and fifty dollars in full for one Negro slave named Andrew. I warrent the title of said negro against the lawful claims of all persons whatever likewise I warrent him sound and healthy in body and mind this 10 day of June 1856. Paul Stockton" Hard to read ("J. C. Jackson?" name of witness at end followed by "$250 paid" and some calculations of uncertain significance. A previous owner, perhaps the one who had this framed, transcribed the name of the county as Tentor's but we believe that the correct reading is Fentres, presumably a misspelling of Fentress County.
