Poznan: Verlag der Anzeigenexpedition "Par, 1929. First edition. Softcover. Good condition. Duodecimo. 110 [6]pp., 2 folding maps. Original pink cloth-covered soft boards with white-stamped image and black lettering on cover. Inside covers with advertisements. Official disclosure: 'The content of the "Guide for the P.L.A." corresponds to the status of organization of the Polish State Exhibition at the time of the printing of this guide up to March 20, 1929. Four ephemeral items laid in. Quite scarce.
The exhibition which focused on agriculture and industry was meant to show the Polish citizens and foreign nationals the present state of Poland and its bright future. "It is meant to show that Poland proved, in the first ten years of its independence, that it can compete and contribute to peace in conjunction with the other countries in Europe." It provides an overall view of the nation as a whole featuring the Polish industry, agriculture, handicraft, art, gymnastics and sports. The guide is illustrated with b/w photographs of government personalities and plans of the various parts of the exhibition, two of them folding in color. It contains detailed instructions for the visitor, ticket structure, transport links to and within the exhibition, a list of attractions and entertainment, sports events, lodging, and conferences. Laid in a small booklet of a travel agency with both tickets torn off, a Poznan postcard in color, a carrier business card, and a business card of an exhibitor in three colors. Text in German. Binding with light wear and light rubbing. Image on cover partially discolored. Title page with dated notes in pencil from the previous owner. Block lightly age-toned due to paper quality.
