1880s Publishing Industry -- Letter from Editor of Domestic Sciences Journal to Prospective Subscriber

Washington, D.C.: Health and Home, 1884. Very good to near-fine. Letter folds.. Handwritten letter on letterhead dated May 19th 1884 from the editor and proprietor of the periodical "Heath and Home". Begun in 1873, the journal was issued monthly and was "Devoted to Domestic Medicine, Literature, Science and Art". Here, the editor is corresponding with a prospective subscriber: "Dear sir- We cannot furnish back numbers. Shall we enter you as a subscriber for two years? We send you by this mail a copy of the April + May Nos". Measures approx. 11" by 8.5". Includes advertising rates at the head, and a "Statement Under Oath" stating that the subscription list of the periodical is over 70,000. The addressee is "L.S. Chase[?], Esq. (Inventory #: 27005309)
