The author's second book. Zolotow started in publishing as Ursula Nordstrom's stenographer, and with Nordstrom's encouragement became a prolific and award-winning author of over 65 books. Zolotow was an editor and publisher at Harper’s celebrated children’s books department. She is credited for her contributions to the Children’s Liberation Movement which espoused that the rights and emotional concerns of children be recognized and treated as the equal of adults.
