Octavo (22cm); [iv],288pp. Illustrated dust jacket; boards in blindstamped black cloth with gilt lettering to spine; red topstain; map endpapers. Jacket is price-clipped, with a short tear and creasing at top corner of front panel (tape repaired on verso), a couple punctures over flap folds, and some general rubbing and scuffing to surface. Small patch of discoloration at top corner of front board and some fading along bottom edge, with some scuffs and dust-soiling to cloth. Spine cocked, with nudging at head and tail. A few small spots to topstain. Flattened dog-ears to a couple pages. Binding is sound and pages unmarked.

Bookplate signed by the author without inscription loosely laid in at front. The fourth of Fraser's Flashman novels. (Inventory #: 31894)
